What is an EF Mother & Daughter Tour?

At EF Tours for Girls, we collaborate with organizations that serve girls and young women to help them go beyond their community. Through culturally immersive travel, girls gain new perspectives, develop leadership skills, and return home with the confidence to change the world. We have found that our mission resonates with parents who believe in the power of transformative travel on girls. Traditionally, we have partnered with organizations on the group level but have found that mothers are raising their hand and want to travel with their daughters, regardless of their affiliation with a girl focused organization!  Parents have asked us to provide opportunities for Moms to travel with daughters. These tours provide a chance for mother’s (or any guardian/ role model) and their girls to step outside of their comfort zone together, deepen their relationship and create lifelong memories.

Who is eligible to travel on an EF Mother & Daughter Tour?

Our tours cater to girls ages 11-19 and their moms (or any guardian/ role model they would like to travel with).  While our tours are specifically designed to empower girls, we welcome all family members (including dads and brothers) to take part.

Which tours are designed for mothers & daughters?

We will be offering these culturally immersive itineraries departing in 2022 and 2023: London & Paris, A Taste of Italy, and Experience Japan. These itineraries have been customized for mother and daughter groups and have a guaranteed departure date. You will be matched with other mothers and daughters across the country.

What if I want to bring a group?

Great news! You can take on the role of a group leader and take advantage of earning a free spot with every 6 paying travelers. You will have access to our entire tour portfolio and a Tour Consultant who can share best practices around recruiting your group!

What is included on an EF Mother & Daughter tour?

Your tour will include round trip flights, hotel stays, a full-time tour director, transportation while on tour, local guides in each major city, breakfast and dinner daily and entrances into many incredible sites! On most tours, we leave lunch as an opportunity for free time for you and your family to enjoy local cuisine. Pre-tour you will want to budget for passport/visa fees, free time activities and customary gratuity for your tour director.

Can my daughter travel on a group tour without me?

We ask that at least one adult accompanies a group of minors. If you are unable to travel and are not part of a larger group, we recommend that you reach out to the local chapter or council of a girl focused organization and suggest that they connect with us to develop a travel program for girls.

Is there travel insurance available?

The majority of our travelers chose to protect their investment with our Global Travel Protection Plan. Provided by Specialty Insurance Solutions and designed specifically with EF travelers in mind, this plan begins working for you the moment you enroll on tour. It provides both pre-departure and post-departure benefits, including medical expense coverage that may apply on tour and tour cancellation for unforeseen life events such as job loss or death in the family. As the group leader, we recommend that you require all participants purchase the insurance so that you are prepared for the unexpected.

Is there a safety net if my daughter and I no longer feel comfortable traveling?

Your comfort and safety is always our #1 priority. EF’s Peace of Mind Program is a benefit that is built into every EF program. It provides families with flexibility to change the dates and destination of their tours in uncertain times. In addition to our standard Peace of Mind program, EF provides an exclusive COVID-19 Peace of Mind program to account for situations related to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program is automatically included for all travelers and allows travelers to rebook their tour to a future year or get all money received back in a transferable voucher to be used on any EF travel experience.

How does rooming on tour work?

On our Mother & Daughter itineraries girls (aged 19 and younger) are roomed with their parent or Guardian. Families of three who wish to room together on tour may request a Family Room which may include a full size bed and a rollaway.

How do I enroll?

You can enroll by calling 800-457-9023 and speaking with an EF representative who will walk you through the payment options that works best for your family. Once enrolled, you will be provided with an online hub to manage travel information, make payments and a keep on track with a dynamic pre travel to-do list.

What policies and procedures do you have in place to keep my family safe?

EF is committed to the safety of our travelers. Thanks to our worldwide presence—we have 500 schools and offices in more than 50 countries—we have local EF staff members anywhere they go. That means we can react quickly and in person whenever and wherever needed. Our dedicated Emergency Service & Support Team can be reached 24 hours a day at our North American and European headquarters.  Travelers can also rely on the support and experience of their Tour Director, who stays with their group around the clock from the moment they clear customs to the time they set off for home again.
