1. Eligibility

This Girls Empowerment Travel Scholarship (the "Scholarship") is open to all girl-focused organizations and groups within the United States. Recipient’s must be between the ages of 11-18 at the time of travel. Applications must be submitted by an adult 18 or older. Submissions can be made by a leader or co-leader of the group, a staff member from the organization, an organizer of the trip, or a parent of a girl in the group. Employees, directors, officers and principals of EF Education First International, Ltd. (“EF”) its subsidiaries, affiliates, contractors, agents and members of their immediate families or households are not eligible to participate. This promotion is void where prohibited by law. By participating, you agree to be fully unconditionally bound by these Terms and Conditions, and you represent and warrant that you meet the eligibility requirements.

2. How to enter

Visit www.girltrips.eftours.com to read the rules and apply for the Scholarship. The entry must fulfill all Scholarship requirements, as specified. Entries that are incomplete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified at the sole discretion of EF. You may enter only once. You must provide the information requested. You may not enter more times than indicated by using multiple email addresses, identities, or devices in an attempt to circumvent the rules. If you use fraudulent methods or otherwise attempt to circumvent the rules, your submission may be removed from eligibility at the sole discretion of EF.

3. Promotion Period

EF will begin accepting applications on September 13, 2021. The deadline for applications is January 31, 2022.

EF may adjust or extend the promotion period at its sole discretion. All entries submitted become

the sole property of EF and will not be returned. Entries generated by a script, macro or other automated means are prohibited and will be automatically disqualified.

4. Selection of scholarship recipients

On February 1, 2022, EF will publish all video submissions on our Facebook page. The videos that have the most likes by February 28, 2022 will advance to the Top 3 Finalists. In the event of a tie, we will advance the tied videos into the final round selection as well. The final selection of scholarship recipients will be conducted by a panel of judges designated by EF and will based on the quality of the application, including the video submission. There will be only one scholarship recipients chosen over the full promotion period. All decisions are final. The winner will be notified on March 8, 2022.

5. Prize

The Scholarship recipient will receive an international tour with EF Tours for Girls to be used with their girl-based group with a value of up to $20,000. Please note if the total cost of the tour is less than $20,000, any unused portion will be void. . The scholarship prize is only redeemable for tours departing June 1, 2023 through August 30, 2023. The group will be responsible for any tour costs that exceed $20,000 and any excluded expenses. All scholarship recipients must complete the EF Booking Conditions which includes a Release and Agreement. EF reserves the right to disqualify any recipient prior to the tour if they do not continue to exemplify the consistent values and qualities or if, in EF’s sole discretion, their participation on the tour would no longer be appropriate.

Please review the Booking Conditions for more information on tour requirements. You are responsible for obtaining your own travel documentation, including but not limited  to a passport and any applicable visa. No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted except at EF’s discretion. The scholarship is nontransferable. Any and all scholarship-related expenses, including without limitation any and all federal, state, and/or local taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of the scholarship recipient. Acceptance of the scholarship constitutes permission for EF to use your name, likeness, and entry for purposes of advertising and trade without further compensation, unless prohibited by law.

6. General conditions

All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply to the competition. This competition is void where prohibited by law. Scholarship recipients will be notified by email or telephone and may be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Publicity and Liability within 14 days of notification. In the event of noncompliance, if the recipient cannot be reached at the email address or telephone number submitted with entry, or if the scholarship notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable, the scholarship will be forfeited and an alternate recipient may be selected at EF’s discretion. No cash alternative or substitution of any scholarship award will be offered. No scholarship transfer is permitted. Limit one scholarship per group traveling together. Participants agree to be bound by these official rules and the decisions of EF are final and binding in all respects. All submissions become the property of EF. No photos, videos, or other media will be returned. By uploading content such as photograph image files or video, entrants agree to give EF or its designee irrevocable, non-exclusive, royalty-free rights to use the photo/video for any purpose including publication, display, modification, and creation of derivative works. By making a submission to the Girls Empowerment Travel Scholarship Competition, participants acknowledge and agree that such submission will be brought within the public domain and EF will not be held liable for any copying, re-posting or unlawful use of the submission that may result. By participating and accepting the scholarship, the recipient agrees to the use of his/her name for advertising or publicity purposes and to the use of statements made by or attributed to him/her relating to EF or this competition, and releases any and all rights to said use without further compensation. In the event of a dispute, all entries will be deemed to be made by the holder of the email account associated with the entry. By entering your video content, you represent and warrant that your entry is an original work of authorship and does not violate any third party’s proprietary or intellectual property rights. If your entry infringes upon the intellectual property right of another, you will be disqualified at the sole discretion of EF. If the content of your entry is claimed to constitute infringement of any proprietary or intellectual proprietary rights of any third party, you shall, at your sole expense, defend or settle against such claims. You shall indemnify, defend, and hold harmless EF from and against any suit, proceeding, claims, liability, loss, damage, costs or expense, which EF may incur, suffer, or be required to pay arising out of such infringement or suspected infringement of any third party’s right.

If, for any reason, the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including without limitation events for force majeure, infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes.  In such event, Sponsor will conduct a random drawing from among all eligible entries received (if any) prior to the event that resulted in the cancellation, termination, modification or suspension.

7. Release of liability

All entrants release, indemnify and hold harmless EF Education First International, Ltd., EF Institute for Cultural Exchange, Inc., their parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees and all others associated with the development and execution of the competition (the “Released Parties”) from any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this competition and/or acceptance or use of the scholarship, including liability for personal injury, death, damages, loss or any actual or alleged infringement or misappropriation of any third party proprietary rights. EF is not responsible for entries that are corrupted or otherwise not received correctly or for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of email, or on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or to any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in the scholarship.


8. Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without respect for the conflict of laws doctrine. As a condition of participating in this Campaign, participant agrees that any and all disputes that cannot be resolved between the parties, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Campaign, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, exclusively before a court located in Massachusetts having jurisdiction. Further, in any such dispute, under no circumstances shall participant be permitted to obtain awards for, and hereby waives all rights to, punitive, incidental, or consequential damages, including reasonable attorney’s fees, other than participant’s actual out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs associated with entering this Campaign). Participant further waives all rights to have damages multiplied or increased.


9. Privacy Policy

10. Winners List

To obtain a copy of the Winner’s name or a copy of these Official Rules, mail your request along with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: EF Education First, 2 Education Circle, Cambridge, MA 02141, United States. Requests must be received no later than February 14, 2022.


11. Sponsor

The Sponsor of the Campaign is EF Education First International, Ltd., Selnaustrasse 30, Zurich 8001 Switzerland. All tours operated outside of the U.S. are produced by EF Education First International, Ltd., Switzerland.


12. Social Media Platforms

This Scholarship is hosted by EF and is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook.

EF assumes no responsibility for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by website users or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the scholarship or by any technical or human error which may occur in the processing of submissions in the scholarship. EF assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries, including lost, late or misdirected entries. EF is not responsible for user cheating or fraud by any entrants. Any activities intended to disrupt or interfere with the competition or defraud EF in any way may be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Participants engaging in any of the foregoing activities will be disqualified and any scholarships awarded will be forfeited. If, for any reason, the competition is not able to be run as planned, including without limitation infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of EF which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this competition, EF reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
