Latin teacher, Garden Grove, CA
Superpower: Limitless determination
Her students think she’s pretty amazing—and we agree.
“Mrs. Dinh is truly there for us, guiding us and helping us succeed. Her patience, wit, and determination shines not only in class but outside as well. She pushes us to be engaged and involved, embraces our talents, and celebrates our victories. She does so much without expecting anything back but the success of her students. Especially now, with our school being shut down for the rest of the school year, she is understanding, caring, and diligent. Even through difficult times, she manages to put a smile on our faces. That is why our Magistra Dinh is a superhero.”

Origin story
Ever since I was a child, I’ve always looked up to my teachers who saw me for me—who went out of their way to pull me aside in 1st grade to tell me I can do better than what I was putting forth, or who in 3rd grade physically dragged me to get tested for a gifted program when my parents didn’t understand due to language barriers what it was all about. I truly believe these gestures of kindness shown by my teachers in my formative years shaped who I am now: someone who vowed at an early age to be a teacher and to carry that torch so my own students feel that they simply matter to someone.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, we asked students across the nation to nominate some of the real-life superheroes in their classrooms (virtual and otherwise). Meet the rest of the ultra-deserving educators who were inducted into the EF Superteacher League, and check out their student-approved superpowers.
