Global Citizen Scholarship

In recognition of the importance of global awareness and 21st Century Skills, the International Baccalaureate has partnered with EF Educational Tours to award this Global Citizen Scholarship to a Current Sophomore or Junior.

The recipient will embark on a 10 day, cross-cultural journey to China this summer to experience Chinese culture alongside likeminded students from India. While on tour, the group will engage in discussions with host students from the Chinese schools that they will be visiting.

Scholarship Application Process
Students have until March 15, 2010 to complete steps 1-3

Step 1: 2 Million Minutes: A Global Examination is a film that documents the experiences that two students from India, The United States and China have during the 2 million minutes of their high school careers.

For a bit of context, applicants must view the 2 Million Minutes: A Global Examination trailer.

Step 2: Next, prepare an essay responding to the following prompt (suggested length - 1500 words):

As the world becomes increasingly interconnected, cross-cultural exchange becomes more important than ever before. How could spending 14,000 minutes of your life on a tour to China equip you with superior communication, leadership and critical thinking skills? What future opportunities could become available to you as a result?
